At Rickfes Construction Ltd, we advocate for the adoption of sustainable, affordable building materials and techniques that respond to environmental needs, cultural heritage and community well-being.
Alternative Building Materials & Technologies (ABMTs) is a popular trend today which basically refers to building a structure using other Engineering means other than concrete/stone and mortar.
There are at least 5 other materials to use especially when it comes to the walling and for us we focus on using earth based concepts, prefabs and conversion of shipping containers (modular construction).
For earth based concepts, we are currently working with Rammed Earth and Interlocking Stabilized Soil Blocks (ISSB). These methods reduce material waste, lower carbon footprints and make quality housing accessible, particularly in marginalized and rural communities.

We also support individuals/institutions who are introducing other sustainable building materials/products, in Kenya, through general consultancy and setting up of pilots for validation.
