Official Visit to KIRDI Premises

Highlights of our official visit to the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI).

Earlier this week, our CEO Patrick Mwangi, alongside Andrew Syata and Maryann Mumo, visited KIRDI on a fact-finding mission to explore the status of standards and innovations around earth-based building technologies.

During the visit, the team was introduced to various sustainable materials including recycled leather, recycled plastic, EPS, macadamia shells and coconut shells; all independently customized to make solid blocks.

We also held productive discussions on potential collaboration for a pilot project using rammed earth.

Exciting times ahead as we continue to advocate for the incorporation of sustainable materials into our housing standards to address affordability and embrace our cultural heritage.

Earth is the most intelligent material we have—it belongs to the place, responds to the climate, and empowers communities to build sustainably.
