AfFS : European Capital For East Africa
On Tuesday 12th May, the CEO attended the European Capital for East Africa breakfast discussion in Nairobi, held on the sidelines of the Africa Forward Summit courtesy of EuroCham Kenya.
The high-level engagement brought together representatives from the European Union Delegation, EuroCham Kenya, and key private sector stakeholders to discuss opportunities for strengthening investment partnerships between Europe and East Africa under the EU Global Gateway initiative.
The discussions focused on how the region can move beyond policy ambitions and create bankable, investment-ready projects capable of attracting long-term capital across critical sectors including infrastructure, construction, housing and real estate development.
As conversations continue around deepening Europe–East Africa investment collaboration, a key concern raised during the session was the growing gap between development priorities and project preparation. While there is increasing investor interest in the East African market, many projects still struggle to meet the level of structuring, feasibility and preparedness required to unlock sustainable financing.
The discussion closely reflected the realities experienced daily while facilitating investors and developers within Kenya’s construction and real estate sector and remain committed to supporting developers, investors, and stakeholders in navigating complex development processes and transforming viable ideas into sustainable, investment-ready projects that contribute to regional growth and development.
Sustainable investment cannot be transactional as European companies operating in the region are now looking for long-term partnership.
