Official Meeting with KIRDI Management
Highlights of our first meeting with the management at the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI).
On Friday 31 Jan 2026, the CEO Patrick Mwangi had an in-depth, two-hour engagement with the management of Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI), led by the Ag. Director General, Dr. Kelvin Khisa, to deliberate on the proposed Rammed Earth Pilot Showhouse.
The purpose of the meeting was focused on collaboration and aligning the proposal with KIRDI’s research and innovation mandate. It was a constructive session where both teams shared insights, learned from each other and clarified the pathway toward the final stages of discussion and eventual product development.
One of the key reflections from the engagement was that, compared to other sectors, the construction industry has been slower in embracing innovation. This collaboration seeks to bridge that gap by translating research into practical, buildable solutions and demonstrating the viability of alternative building technologies such as rammed earth and developing credible standards on the concept.
We appreciated the open engagement and receptiveness from the KIRDI team. The next phase will focus on refining outstanding details and progressing toward implementation.
Earth is the most intelligent material we have—it belongs to the place, responds to the climate, and empowers communities to build sustainably.
